Should we always believe what we see right in front of us? Can you trust your senses? And is anything really as it seems? These are just some of the questions posed by Illusion: Nothing is as it Seems, the mind-bending exhibition showing at Puke Ariki this summer.

The exhibits will boggle your mind and deceive your eyes and ears. Our perception of the world around us is often distorted, and these exhibits will show you just how much. Delicate Boundaries creates a space that allows the worlds inside our digital devices to move into the physical realm as bugs crawl off the screen and onto your body. In All the Universe is Full of the Lives of Perfect Creatures gaze into a mirror and change into your inner animal!

Illusion was curated by psychologist, author and magician Richard Wiseman, and was researched by deception artist Paul Gleeson for the Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin. Richard Wiseman says "Magic is an inspiring force for learning. I have worked with the Science Gallery to create an exhibition that will inspire and educate people of any age. Each piece in the show deceives the brain with either an optical, perceptual or audio illusion."

Illusion is created by Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin, part of the Global Science Gallery Network.
