Puke Ariki Update on Services
NPDC has reviewed Puke Ariki operations following the Government’s announcement on the COVID-19 alert level, all Puke Ariki and Community Library facilities are closed until further notice.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience but we know our customers will understand this is an unprecedented situation and safety comes first.

Puke Ariki includes a museum, libraries, an i-SITE and a research centre. Select the part you would like to visit for information on location, parking, hours and facilities.
Following the Government’s announcements on public gatherings, we have decided to temporarily close Puke Ariki. This includes the Museum, Library, Taranaki Research Centre, Puke Ariki Store and New Plymouth i-SITE.
The Inglewood, Bell Block and Ōākura Libraries will remain open, Waitara Library is currently closed as a precaution.
The well-being of our staff and visitors is important to us.
We have developed some guidelines for visiting us in line with the Ministry of Health.
Puke Ariki Museum, Library, the i-Site and the Taranaki Research Centre are all open Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am - 5pm. The Library is also open from 9am - 9pm on Wednesdays.
Hours vary for the community libraries.

Looking for a venue for your special occasion? You can hire the Puke Ariki Museum foyer or a selection of other rooms both at our central New Plymouth site and at some of our community libraries.
