Te Ihi, Te Wehi, Te Wana: Ngā Kapa haka o Taranaki
The exhibition showcases the captivating performances of eight kapa haka groups who participated at Te Kāhui Maunga, held at Te Whare o Ruaputahanga/TSB Hub, Te Hāwera on 8-9 March 2024. Each photograph, captured by renowned Taranaki photographer Tania Niwa (Taranaki Tūturu, Te Atiawa, Ngāruahine), beautifully reflects the essence of Te Ihi (power), Te Wehi (awe), and Te Wana (energy) as expressed through the art of kapa haka.
This event celebrates Tania Niwa’s photography from the regional competition and honours the vibrant spirit of kapa haka, showcasing the collective talent and passion of our community.
This exhibition is part of a series of Te Matatini activations hosted at Puke Ariki Museum and Library, celebrating kapa haka and its significance in our communities.
