Supporting your school’s marae visit
We are excited to announce that Puke Ariki Museum and the Govett Brewster Art Gallery can join in as part of your school’s marae visit, we now offer a range of engaging activity options to add to your planned learning experience rotations!
An educator will be on hand to support this kaupapa with our enriching lessons including our wharenui lesson.
During this lesson, students will:
- Participate in a hands-on challenge to assemble a wooden wharenui model.
- Learn the names and significance of various parts of the wharenui.
- Engage in drama and movement activities to deepen their understanding of Māori culture.
This interactive approach not only fosters creativity and teamwork but also provides a meaningful connection to experience on a marae. We’re looking forward to a memorable experience for all students!
These sessions are planned to run for 45 minutes.
