Join us for an engaging learning adventure with our new library-based programme!

This programme provides a rich learning opportunity that blends toi Māori, library skills, literacy and geometry to explore Taranaki’s rich heritage through the vibrant art of tukutuku. Students will explore the tukutuku panels on display, decoding traditional designs and engaging in hands-on research. This experience will deepen their understanding of Taranaki’s heritage through the art of tukutuku.

They’ll also get to contribute their own creativity by adding to patterns and threading their designs into panel boards. This interactive experience is offered alongside our museum-based activities, providing a comprehensive exploration of Māori culture. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with their local heritage in a meaningful way!

Support material including pre and post visit activities and information will be provided on booking or by request.

Book the ‘Toi Whakairo’ session as a rotation.
