We’re inviting local artists to submit new and unseen artworks to feature in ‘Home Work Maunga Auaha: Taranaki Art 2024’. To enter or for more information, read on below.
Home Work Maunga Auaha: Taranaki Art 2024 will be a celebration of the art our region is known for, inspired by the maunga we live beneath, invoking creativity that permeates our way of life in a way that is unique to Taranaki. This exhibition works to acknowledge the vital role art plays in forming a vibrant community by championing established and emerging local talent.
We’ll be selecting and displaying an impressive and diverse body of paintings, prints, sculptures and more to be shown at Puke Ariki from 06 July 2024 and closing 10 November 2024. Collectively, these artworks aim to represent the art scene in Taranaki, which is why we want to hear from you.
Submissions are open from 18 September 2023 until 1 December 2023. A show for all ages, Home Work Maunga Auaha: Taranaki Art 2024 will put the spotlight on our creative people, our places, our issues and our identity.

The chosen works will be selected by three guest judges yet to be announced.

What types of artworks will be accepted?
You may submit any form of media (e.g. drawing, collage, painting, photography, video work, textiles, raranga, whakairo, ceramics, sculpture, performance or artistic collaborations etc).
What is the submission criteria?
Firstly, make sure that you read and fully understand the Terms and Conditions.
Your submitted work:
- Must have been produced in 2021 or later;
- Must be available to the Council for drop-off to Puke Ariki between 18 March and 22 March 2024, after which time the loan period commences, until collection from Puke Ariki between 11 November 2024 and 13 November 2024, after which the loan period ends;
- Must be supplied complete and ready for display in the Exhibition;
- Does not need to be available for sale
Is there an age limit?
Entrants must be over the age of 18.
