From the 1930s to the 1970s, Vincent and Sheila Scanlon dedicated their lives to taking the magic of cinema across Taranaki, travelling town to town with their mobile cinema truck, bringing entertainment to rural communities. This truck was outfitted with all the equipment to transform town halls into unforgettable movie nights.

Moving Pictures showcases vintage film posters, glass slide advertisements, and an oral history from Scanlon’s collection. Celebrate the creativity, dedication, and community spirit that made cinema a treasured part of Taranaki life.
