Students will explore the taonga in Takapou Whāriki, focussing on the raranga (weaving), studying traditional methods and materials, transitional pieces and examples of 21st century methods of work linked to the contemporary Māori art movement.

Students will investigate and compare varied uses and the significance of raranga. They will also compare different design elements and gain an appreciation of the artistry and skill involved in producing these pieces.
