Can you create a design that shows your love for Taranaki? Enter it into our competition and it could feature on our new library cards!

Competition Details


The theme is ‘Love Taranaki’ and entries will be judged on design, creativity and printability.


We’re looking for designs for 3 new card categories:

  • children
  • teen
  • adults cards.

Winners will each receive a $100 Prezzy card and the new cards will be available at our libraries in 2021. 


All entries must be submitted by 5pm on 31 January 2021. Winning entries will be selected by 12 February and the winners will be contacted by email or telephone.

Who can enter

The competition is open to New Plymouth District Council residents and there’s no limit to how many times you can enter.

How to Enter

There are two ways to enter.

  • Fill in the form below.
  • Pick up a physical form (or download  and print one here) and drop it off at any of our libraries.

Design Guidelines

You can create the design however you like (hand drawing, painting, photography or computer generated art).

Designs must be horizontal and should fit the basic card dimensions, which are 86mm wide x 54mm high (1016px x 638px).

If you upload your design online:

  • the file must be between 2MB and 10MB
  • the file type must be a jpg or a pdf
  • you can upload up to three designs at one time.

Terms and Conditions

All submissions must be original, previously unpublished, and free of copyright restrictions.

Each winning entrant grants to the Council the right to reproduce their design on library cards (edited as necessary to fit the dimensions of the card) and other promotional material now or in the future. No fee or royalties will be payable by the Council. The final library card designs will feature Puke Ariki and Council logos and information.
