eBook Collections

Puke Ariki has two main eBook collections: ePukaPuka and Bolinda. Please note, Kindles can not be used to borrow eBooks from New Zealand libraries. For help getting started with these check out our step-by-step guides:

All the items available through ePukaPuka and Bolinda are listed in our catalogue.

Bolinda digital has a great selection of eBooks and eAudiobooks.

You can borrow 4 eBooks and 4 eAudiobooks at any one time from Bolinda. eBooks and eAudiobooks are issued for 2 weeks. Titles expire automatically unless they are renewed.

The best way to use the Bolinda collection on your smartphone or tablet is to download the Borrowbox app, which is available at the app store   or from google play .

To use Bolinda

  • Download the Borrowbox app or go to the website
  • select Puke Ariki as your library
  • enter your library card number and PIN to create an account
  • the email address you select will be used to send you reminders about returns and holds
  • browse, search, borrow, read and listen!

Bolinda for ereaders

If you have an ereader follow the steps above to access the Bolnda collection on your computer. You may also need to download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer. Once you select the ebooks you would like to borrow from the Bolinda website they will automaically transfer to Adobe Digital Editions, from there you can copy them to your ereader.

ePukaPuka or Overdrive has a wide range of adults and older children’s eBooks and eAudiobooks.

You can borrow 10 eBooks or eAudiobooks on ePukaPuka (Overdrive). eBooks and eAudiobooks are issued for 3 weeks. Titles expire automatically unless they are renewed.

The best way to use the ePukaPuka collection on your smartphone or tablet is to download the Libby app, alternatively the Overdrive app is also available. Both of these can be downloaded from the app store   or from google play .

To use ePukaPuka

  • Download Libby or Overdrive, or go to the ePukaPuka website
  • select Puke Ariki as your library
  • enter your library card number and PIN to sign in
  • browse, search, borrow, read and listen!

ePukaPuka for ereaders

If you have an ereader you may need to download Adobe Digital Editions, from Adobe to your computer. You can then search for and select the eBooks you would like to borrow from the ePukaPuka website and they will automatically transfer to Adobe Digital Editions, from there you can copy them to your ereader.

Tumblebooks is a fantastic resource for kids, from preschoolers through to primary school age children. It includes a great range of animated picturebooks, simple chapter books, national geographic videos, language books, and educational games and puzzles.

You can use Tumblebooks through its website or by downloading the Tumblebooks app from the app store   or from google play .

To use Tumblebooks on a computer click on a link to it from the Puke Ariki website. You can now search, read, listen and watch online.

To use Tumblebooks from the app:

  • download the app
  • select your country
  • enter Puke Ariki library and your card library number.
  • enjoy reading, listening, watching and playing!
