Community Libraries

Puke Ariki has 5 community libraries; Bell Block, Inglewood, Ōākura, Urenui and Waitara.

All library and membership services offered by Puke Ariki are also available at the Community Libraries including extensive fiction and non-fiction books, children’s books, magazines, dvds and music collections.

If a book is not held at a community library, a daily courier service between Puke Ariki and all the community libraries can ensure availability – a reserve charge is applicable.

All community libraries except Urenui have a b/w and colour photocopy, fax and scanning service for a small charge. Children are well catered for with regular school holiday programmes, pre-school sessions and the popular annual Summer Reading Programme. For adults, regular book groups meet monthly at all sites.

Each of our community libraries has free broadband Internet Service with wireless connections also available.

In addition, Bell Block, Inglewood and Waitara are not just libraries as they also offer a range of council information, receipting and application services. These include:

Rates payment and enquiry: due quarterly on the last Wednesday of February, May, August and November.
Rates rebate applications.
Dog registration: annually due before the last day of July.
Parking infringement payments
Debtor invoice payments
Applications for LIM Reports and licences
Council Invoices including water accounts: payable at all three sites.
Cemetery enquiry, information and payment
Sale of excess refuse stickers and refuse collection and recycling information.
A full range of council information and flyers.
Borrowing and reference copies of ‘The District Plan’.
Property information and building consent applications (except at Bell Block)
